John Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono, launched this campaign in 1969. Huge posters and billboards were erected in major cities like New York, Tokyo, Rome, Athens and London with the message ‘War Is Over (If You Want It)’ This inspired Lennon to record the song ‘Happy Xmas (War is Over)’ later in 1971
